Burundi - Migoti Hill
In April 2024, thanks to an invitation from our friends at Omwani, we travelled to Burundi to visit the Migoti Hill Washing Station. During our time there we cupped an incredible Natural lot—and instantly fell in love with it.
Migoti Coffee Company takes its name from a native tree in the region, as well as the hill where the first washing station was established. Founded in 2015 by engineers Dan Brose and Pontien Ntunzwenimana, the company set out to help revive coffee production after Burundi’s devastating 12-year civil war and to support the rebuilding of the surrounding community. A few years later they welcomed Zephyrn to the team, bringing valuable experience that continues to inform their approach.
Since then, Migoti has invested significantly in farmer training, promoting best practices that boost yields and elevate cup quality. One standout initiative encourages farmers to intercrop with plants used for essential oils, giving them an additional income stream while young coffee trees mature.
Tasting notes :
Haribo Hearts | Passion Fruit | Candy Floss
